Robert Pattinson Worst Performer on Haiti Telethon?

A staff writer (Buzz Brady) over at Irishcentral.com is showing that he was not a big fan of Robert Pattinson's appearance last night at the Hope for Haiti Now telethon.

Robert Pattinson made an ass of himself on the “Hope for Haiti” telethon last night.

The British star was one of those making an appeal for funds, but proved he couldn't hack it in the big leagues.

He didn't even think it important enough to show up live, but his contribution was pre-recorded. He is so much more important than Bono, Madonna, Steven Spielberg, Jack Nicholson or the like. Hey, it’s only Haiti.

He was trying to be far too cool and striking a pose unlike every other presenter who just got on with the job on hand, which was to deliver funds for the poverty stricken homeless and hurt in Haiti.

Robert however, came on stage unkempt, dressed in trampish clothes, mumbled his lines, spoke in a very low voice and made no sense whatever.

Compared to pros like Ben Stiller, Morgan Freeman and Anderson Cooper, Pattinson came across like a cranky child, unwilling to do his work.

Stellar music acts like Sting, Bono and Madonna gave the night a wonderful energy and sense of hope.

Robert Pattinson gave the impression he wanted to be anywhere else – and indeed he was by taping it. Which is pretty much in keeping with this self-obsessed, poser who has somehow cracked the limelight.

Not for long I'd wager.

And a response by a fan to this article that I thought brought up good points:

Buzz Brady....perhaps Robert Pattinson had the forethought to not want his appearance to overshadow the reason for the telethon and taped his segment so that he could do some good without his crazed fans dampening the mood of the event or taking the focus away from Haiti....as for his unkempt appearance...it's not like he tries to be anything but what he is....showing up all done-up would have been fake and totally not like him...

What are your thoughts about Rob's telethon performance?

  1. I'm gonna have to agree. He look like complete crap. I love the guy to pieces but he should have cleaned himself up. Scruffy is one thing but looking like he didn't give 2 shits to be there turns me off. Sorry but that's just how I feel. I know there are plenty of his fans drooling over his wooly booger look. Not me.

  2. does it really matter what he looks like? he always looks scruffy, if he tidied up people would be saying, "oh, look at him trying to show off" or something stupid like that. I also agree that he perhaps recorded the video so the fans would not over-power the meaning of the event, which they would've. Adleast Robert Pattinson actually DID something for Haiti, unlike alot of people in the world.

  3. give the guy a brk people. he was in london and at leat he did sumfin to help.who cares wat he looked like. its not like h dressed differently from the way he normally dresses ths wasnt the oscars. people always have sumin bad to say dnt they.give rob a brk.

  4. Have people lost their minds??? Robert looked like a normal person!!! He's got a beard, not even a 3-day-stubble, which he is growing for a role. He said his lines very well and you could tell that he was trying to hold emotions back, so much so that I started to cry, completely feeling what he was saying. And to say that he doesn't give a shit. He was in London, not in L.A. to attend the live show. He was scheduled for the recording, he doesn't choose when to do it ... the main thing is, that he took part, to help make a difference and get people to donate.

    So get a grip people.

  5. I have to disagree... he's probably half way between having one day off in many months of filming, new moon promos as well as Remember Me and gearing up for Eclipse....and in all honesty he's probably dropped everything at the last min, jumped on a plane exhausted and jet lagged to give his support.

No one said anything about the news features George Cloony did before the event, he was in a messy black t-shirt also unshaven...as for looking like complete crap he is not Edward bloody Cullen..in the real world this is him, messy, geeky unwashed, he's a lad in his early 20s and completely grounded. It's time people accepted that that's just Rob.

The point is, he was there, he supports it, and yes at the moment he's something big and so will catch the attention of his fan base and sway them into helping..the real issue here is the fact these famous faces have to do things like this to kick us up the butt to do something to help, when we should be on auto pilot to do so anyway.

Lastly I'd like to congratulate the idiot who decided to make this a story, anyone who try's to get a cheap read and drags the attention in any way no matter how small from a disaster is quite frankly idiotic.

  6. I agree and disagree. Yes he did something for Haiti but come on. You could have cleaned up a bit not worn ratty jeans and a sweatshirt, he is the only one who didn't. He looked unimpressed the whole time, which again isn't shocking, he always walks with his head down, looking depressed and crap. Sure he's a good actor but when it comes to do something for someone else, another country in need like Haiti, he couldn't give less of a crap if he tried. He more a less did it for publicity to look like the good guy helping out, but he couldn't even bother to show up like a lot of other stars did whether they were busy or not they took time out. He however. Did not! I was unimpressed with him on the teleathon, it would have been better if he just stayed like he is, and not helped, cause he sure didn't want to be there and it was very much more than apparent.

  7. I agree with Amy. In my opinion Robert did look quite decent and dressed for the occasion. He wasn't over-dressed, but looked comfortable in what he was wearing and besides, this show wasn't about the celebrities and their looks. So what if his part was pre-recorded? The point is, just like Amy said, that he did something for Haiti (besides, why would he show up at 2 AM, UK time, to only appear for less than a minute?) Either way, that's just who Rob is and kudos to him for that! So just give the guy a freaking break and focus on what's really important, which obviously is to help Haiti. It's just ridiculous to even discuss Rob's appearance. Geez...!

  8. I think Rob did a good job! I'm with the response with the fan. What about brad pitt??? He wasn't shaved either and that dosen't matter. It wasnt about Fashion and Glamour... it was about help!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Honestly, who gives a shit what he looked like. This was about the people in Haiti. First of all, I didn't think Julia Roberts hair looked that great, but no one is "bitching" about that. Madonna wasn't all glam either. These are real people who entertain others for a living. GET OVER IT and just donate money or time for the cause.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Well it could not have been pre taped if you look at the beginning it say Live from London while Rob is talking it was 2:00am there when he did it soo there !!!! Rob looked great to me but I little tired thou he is going to film a move soon in London you know he did donated 1 million dollars to the cause !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. what the hell is this guy's problem??!!!!why can't people accept that he doesn't ACT like this!!he's just being himself!!!and FYI, it was a charity thing not some award show like "fafy" pointed out for crying out loud!!!have you ever seen this guy showing off by dressing up at every event except award shows???!!even in his own movies' events he comes this way and still grabs so much attention that no one ever could or would!!so instead of discouraging him for what he did by supporting Haiti, don't you think you should appreciate him for throwing away all his things and events and coming there?-either for recording or not.atleast he came and actually DID something and we all know how much Rob is busy nowadays with his heck of a schedule!!!
FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME, LEAVE.HIM.ALONE!!!!!!!!he's a human being!!!

    ReplyDelete
  12. I thought Rob did a great job on the telethon. & he wasn't the only one who wasn't in LA. why is all the focus on him, his clothes, & the way he spoke?! he did a great thing by speaking. he helped raise money for the people of Haiti, which is where everyones focus should be. so give the guy a break!

    ReplyDelete
  13. He did just as well as every one else. You can hear the emotion in his voice, and the fact that he took the time out of his busy as shit schedule to do this is all that should matter. Rob is an amazing person and actor and people should just leave the poor kid alone. Even if he'd done the opposite of what he did for this there'd still be people complaining about something. Good job, Rob; I'm proud to be a fan of yours. <3

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm disappointed in the so called Twi-hard fans who wrote above and wasted there time in commenting on Rob's appearance, especially the person who wrote this. Guess you had nothing else to write about! Who cares what he looked like, or what or wore or didn't wear; if he shaved or didn't shave. None of that matters! And how can anyone assume what he felt or didn't feel, did you ask him; can you read his mind? Or better yet, did any of you donate 1 mill like he did! Yeah, I didn't think so! This whole thing was about helping to raise money for Haiti, for the people who lost everything. It was about people coming together to do what was right in helping others. Coming together like a family to help those less fortunate. Can any of you say you've lost everything like the people in Haiti, doubt it! Rob is as humane as you and me with feelings like you and me. Grow up, stop being so darn judgmental and more appreciative with what you have. He was there, he helped, nuff said! I can totally understand why being so famous can actually be a negative thing. You get people judging your every move and criticizing everything you do or don't do. Then you wonder why the world can be such a cruel place, or shall I say, the self centered, shallow people who are in it. Rob, thanks you being there and making a difference! Thanks to everyone who helped out and donated there time and money to a cause that needs it the most right now.

  15. I agree with the printed comment at the bottom however anyone who follows anything about Robert would also know he is unbelievably SHY.
A lot like Johnny Depp in that respect, wanting to help as he can but not a "speaker" or an attention seeker, so to speak. That ass Buzz Brady needs to take out a loan and buy a clue. Rob did a good job and His fans appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Wow Buzz Brady, you didn't even try to hide the jealously this time did you. Every single word you wote dripped the green-eyed monster slime. Also very obvious was your lack of research into the why's and where-fors of Rob's appearance for Haiti. Rob doesn't need me or anyone else to justify his actions so I won't but one thing you said was very very true, someone did make an ass of himself and Buzz, you know who it is.

    ReplyDelete
  17. i agree with mmmmmm buzz really made an ass of himself

  18. give the guy a break. i watched the show in england, and his part wasnt shown untill 2am over here, so i dont blame him for not doing it live! and with regards to his appearance, a. no-one was dressed up for the event. everyone who was shown, were in casual clothes. and b. the beard is for a film role. he's not just gonna shave it off coz some up his ass journalist didnt like it! at least he done his part for the Haiti, bet the journalist in question, didnt even donate!

    ReplyDelete
  19. this guy has really annoyed me! wheres his focus on kristen stewart who didnt even bother to do as much as pretape something for the relief!! at least he made the effort to help! and "striking a pose"?? when did standing with your hands in your pocket make a person a poser? is this guy for real seriously???!!! and was he even looking at the screen? seeing as in the top corner it says the words "LIVE london"!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I thought he looked like shit, but he looks NORMAL. He didn't look like a high and mighty actor or all 'Edward' gorgeous, he looked like a normal 23 yr old guy. I say good for him! Why the hell should he look perfect all the time? He wasn't there to look good. Even my husband who can't stand him (or my obsession :P) said he has more respect for him now since he actually showed up and did that looking like a normal human being. That and he totally dug his beard. Whoever wrote that article is a douche. And jealous.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It's about charity not how people look you know
What the hell if he even wore a garbage bag I would still respect him. It's not about his good looks or his edward cullen role. This was about the people in haiti! Nothing less nothing more.
Give him a break, Matt Damon was wearing casual clothes as well
and who cares if it was recorded all the London things were recorded even Rihanna and all...

God this guy pisses me off.

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG seriously who cares what he was wearing do you think the people of haiti are gonna worry what the people who are helping them wear!!! I wonder if all the people giving off did any donating!!! At least hes helping please everyone donate what you can.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Buzz how jealous are you! Have you donated yet?

    ReplyDelete
  24. That's absolute rubbish. I'm not a huge fan of his, and I personally hate the beard, but it's really harsh and stupid to be making such a big deal about his appearance when it's supposed to be about delivering a message.
I mean "Worst Performer" - seriously? It wasn't a talent competition it was a group of people spreading important news to the world. Some people are so pathetic.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Oh my god! He has a beard for his upcoming movie, if he'd dressed up everyone would be saying that he's trying to make it about him. At least he was doing something to help, I didn't see Taylor Lautner there! So at least Rob gave up some of his time.

    ReplyDelete
  26. he just looked like he didn't give a shit. that's all. nothing about being too cool or anything, he just didn't care as much.

    ReplyDelete
  27. taylor lautner was there.....he was answering phones.

    ReplyDelete
  28. didnt care as much?? the fact that he was there at all shows he cared. he didnt have to do anything, but he did! robert, and everyone who took part deserve respect, and to not be scrutinized for taking time to help.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Tbh, im not liking the beard D: But god sake, thats how he is, and its not that he 'didnt care' as much, he just looks serious. Hell, they actually say this about him, at least he bothered to help! I didnt see him making a 'pose' :S People are just finding tiny pathetic reasons to make him look bad, just because he's a 'big star' now. It's stupid, childish, and he should be left be, he is who he is, and thats what we love him for.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Do any of you know that Robs section was pre-taped? Rob didn't want it to be a Rob Pattinson scream fest, he also said no to being on the phones. He wanted it to be about Haiti not about him. Before you smash him about thinking he is all that, remember what happens whenever fans get near him. Are you certain it wouldn't have happened at theHope For Hairu?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think no matter what the poor guy did we were going to be haters... He is hot and wanted, to even do what he did was of great kindness. Shit if He was dressed up answering phones and doin that whole bit someone would have said he was showing off and making an ass of himself. I'm sorry but no matter what hot famous people do we are going to try and take them down a notch.. I love Robert and he has my utter respect for even trying... Can half of you say the same for the situation???????

    ReplyDelete
  32. Why is it when someone doesn't quite fit the perfect picture of a celebrity people start to bring them down on everything they do. I think that the reason Rob looks like he does is because of the constant publicity and pressure from all sides and his way to get handle all of that is by being the total opposite of what everyone wants. It is obvious that he is completely overwhelmed by everything around him and I applaud his effort for Haiti. I think it took a lot of courage for him to put himself out there prone to idiots comments just looking to bring him down. We are all fans but just leave him alone so he can find himself people...

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay so i've said this before and I'll say it again...why does it matter what he looked like...I agree with most of you that anything he does or doesn't do will never be good enough for certain people..and if we are going to talk about appearances then lets talk about Rihanna the girl was wearing almost nothing?? and i think that so what if Rob's segment was taped?? he didnt have to be there but he was..So i think people should stop picking on him...also you are one of those people who are focusing on an artist instead of the telethon what a shame...:(

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ok , who is this numb nuts saying shit about my baby , Rob . I thought he was awesome , and it was very nice of him to help out. and who cares if it was prerecorded at least he had the heart to help out, I'm sure he could have found other things to do , but no he has a huge heart and wanted to help out in anyway that he can . and like I read in a few of the comments that by the time he got on it was 2 am in England , now who in their right mind is going to get up get all dressed up at 2 am in the morning just to be on a show for maybe two minutes I know I wouldn't do it . so all you haters need to leave rob alone , he is a sweet heart

    ReplyDelete
  35. so emotional...look into his eyes....please!!!!! what do you see? what do you FEEL? .... hope you'll understand what i mean..................so people....plesae STOP!!!

    show some respect...

and Rob's always sweet...WITH or WITHOUT beard!!! always!!!! he's sooo special...

    ...keep together HOPE FOR HAITI!!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think he did fine. His beard is for a role he's playing. With the state he's in right now (not being able to walk down a street with 547295642574 stupid girls running after him) it only made sense for him to have it prerecorded. The event in London wasn't big like the event in NYC or LA. There was no audience, and no live telethon crew, at least as far as my knowledge. There is also a time difference.

Who cares anyways? The point got across, he was being himself. Do you want people to go in speaking in a high pitch voice, trying to sound happy and bright? No. He spoke in his normal tone, but there was still emotion behind it. He didn't mumble, he has a low-toned voice plus an accent. What do you expect?

Why is anyone even complaining, or bringing it up? The important thing is that he was there, said what they asked him to say, and helped Haiti. Don't focus on how he looked, or the sound of his voice, it's not a big fucking deal. Instead of focusing on bringing someone down, focus on the issue at hand.

    ReplyDelete
  37. basically anything he does is wrg. coz he's a celeb. so y dun we juz be happy dat hes helping haiti?

    ReplyDelete
  38. I am 21 and even though I am a media person, confident and all, I know first hand how challenging it is to be a part of such a huge platform such as Hope For Haiti Now and not choke or make any bloopers.

I have the utmost respect for Robert Pattinson for showing up for this telethon, despite the fact that he is known for his aversion to media.

In my opinion, Rob looked absolutely fantastic. Not because he looked stunning, not because he is idolised all over, not because he is in the best shape but simply because he showed up!

To be 23 and have such a massive impact on people from all over the world, being flooded by overnight success, no one can blame Robert for being overwhelmed.

I know tons of boys around his age, who are pretty much wasting their life away. Rob knew that his presence would bring in more followers and he showed up simply for that.

When Rob came on he looked exasperated and tired, he could have bailed out but no, he made an effort so what if it was pre-recorded, I could barely tell.

Personally, I am rather glad that most of the celebrities dressed down for the telethon. There was nothing to celebrate, no reason for them to look absolutely glamorous.

Rob spoke with as much emotion as was required there and then. I am not advocating for him, he does not know me and chances are, he never will.

Considering no celebrity ever visits Pakistan, I probably will never see him in real life. I merely speak the facts and the fact is that he did a good deed.

I applaud Robert and all the other young emerging actors along with the known celebrities who came out for this cause.

The celebrities left their parties, their homes, their agendas and most of all the divas within them at home, for which we are all thank full.

Robert came on the show not as some huge star but simply as a normal person. He is an ordinary guy gifted with talent and luck has shined upon him.

Do not criticise him for being human.

Indeed his fans are proud of him.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Bono and Rihanna also pre-recorded their appearances on the show according to the BBC. It's an incredibly difficult subject to talk about. There's a huge difference between being a great actor and a god public speaker. I don't think Rob ever set out to be a huge celebrity from what I see of him in interviews. It must take some getting used to that people expect so much of you. He'd be an extremely hard-hearted person if he didn't care and if that was true why would he have agreed to appear in the first place? Couldn't be because of what people might say because some are having a go at him anyway!!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think every1 should stop critisizing on Rob for everything...
Hes done more than us for Haiti already.. and he didnt look scruffy, thats just him... Who cares what he looks like... I think that he did really well and i am proud of him :) He took part and he didnt even have to! You guys need to get a life and stop critisizing every move he makes!! Geeez! Love you Rob :P xx

    I thought he looked fine

  42. does it matter what he looks like! he was taking part in something to help people that have lost everything! i dont think that would have been the right time to dress like 007 and act like a big shot! He wanted to send out a message and get help for the people of haiti not appear on tv looking like a super model!!

    Love You Rob!

  43. WOW ,people give the guy a break!
I think he did a wonderful job, and I think he looked great, who cares if he didn't dress up, that's just his personality.
He didn't mumble, what he is saying is nothing to jump up and down about and make it seem like a positive thing, he was talking about something very serious... at least he was there .
Way to go Rob , you did great . <3

    ReplyDelete
  44. Thank you to those who understand that everyone is different. Did you also take a look at Brad Pitt when he is not in make-up and all that. This is the Robert Pattinson that we should all know and begin to understand. If you are expecting him to look like Edward Cullen then you should stop that because he is not. This IS and will ALWAYS be Robert until he decides to change. George Clooney could have just said "no" to him and rejected his decision to pre-record but he didn't. Robert still wanted to help but something (and I wish people would stop acting like they know WHAT) stopped him from being able to show up live. But he still did his part!

  45. Im Irish.... And extremely embarrassed at the article that was written about Rob. He was totally missing the point, it wasn't an award show for the best dressed, or an award show for the cleanest shaven male.. it was for Haiti. And Rob did what he was asked to do and did it well, if you ask me i think there was an element of nerves, you can hear a tremble in his voice at the end of a few sentences. its a big thing to be asked to step up the plate and be involved in something with celebrities that have been around for well over 10 years and have had the chance to prove themselves to the ever ending scrutiny that they face. id like to tell Rob that he did an amazing job, and please please dont rule out the irish over this one eejit that thinks he knows it all. I'd love to know what he did to help Haiti...!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. It's great that he even participated, but I have to say..I wasn't very impressed by his performance. On the other hand, it was not so bad as the article said..well it's not the first time some writer has exaggerated in his article :)

  47. First of all you no one should be judging anyone regarding this matter.Robert did his part and we do not none of us know what his plans were at the time this was going to air.Not everyone is as open as some stars. Some are very shy in fact.Robert did what he could do.This was not something that was planned in early advance notices. He had no script he is a shy person at heart. As far as looks you have no idea what he was doing in his neck of the woods with other things in the fire. Some donated that couldn't speak at all speaking of stars. They could just donate.I am not a star but I did donate doe's this make me a bad person I don't think so or how much I gave at church today don't think so I think whatever he did he did from his heart and that is what God looks for.Stop judging and just give give from within and you will find the peace your missing from judging him.Shine smile and laugh because of all of us we will over come this terrible thing that happen even in this time of all our needs we joined together to share this moment and may the blessings of God bring you all joy and wealth with in yourself your health your families and most of all the love to each other.Spread this joy and these people will be saved and you are already being saved just by giving...Peace and love Shine

  48. Robert looked horrible, he sounded horrible. And just because he has some fans doesn't mean he couldn't show up on his own. Many people who are far more famous and have a hell of a lot more fans showed up. HE just doesn't care about the people. Everything in that article is true. I Hate Him.

    ReplyDelete
  49. The point of him taping this segment was to help the people of Haiti. Who cares what he looks like and how did he make an ass out of himself? I don't understand, he shows up he gets shit he doesn't show up he still gets shit from people. I didn't know it was a crime to be yourself and let your facial hair grow which he does after every movie. Let him be, he is helping a great cause that should be the only important thing during this time.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I cannot believe what you just said about Rob!!! He did an excellant job. He sounded very caring and emotional telling his story. Rob is a professional with whatever he does. He is a busy actor and probably had to tape it so as not to let George down by not doing anything at all. If you remember correctly, there were only three stars from London. And as for his appearance, he was just plain sexy looking!! Buzz, I think you need glasses and a hearing aid...better yet another line of work might suit you best.

    ReplyDelete
  51. what??? Rob did great! He looked humble, sad even by this tragedy! Are you kidding me? He wasn't trying to be arrogant at all- he just wanted to get the message across- it was probably pre-recorded because of his crazy fans! The whole thing was about haiti, please stop making it about rob! I think he looked great, and did what he needed to do- stop analyzing everything he does people! I'm glad he gave his time- thanks rob for keeping priorities straight! jae

  52. I am Irish and mortified at that article, are people really so small minded that they pay more attention to what someone is wearing than the matter at hand, no-one cares what the guy was wearing, he made a contribution that's what counts, now can people refocus the minds on whats important here??
