New heartthrob Robert Pattinson is grateful for his career skyrocketing off the ground due to Twilight but he continues to be stunned by its mass worldwide frenzy. "[Twilight mania has] turned into this crazy situation," Rob told Reuters. "I guess it has become a sort of phenomenon now which I really, really didn't expect." So now, the once low profile struggling actor ideally wants a job out of the spotlight.The past year has been a roller-coaster ride in overnight superstardom for Rob and the recluse London native now has paparazzi staking out his every move, celebrity tabloids speculating on his personal life, and females of all ages gushing over his "hot-ness."
However Rob's close friends argue that all the fan hysterias and success won't change the modest Pattinson. "[Rob's] exactly as he always was," states close friend Bobby Long, a British musician. "He's very down-to-earth and humble, just a normal lad."
Twilight grossed over $376 million worldwide since its November 2008 release. The arguably somewhat unexpected mainstream popularity of the film threw RPattz into the line of Hollywood's best. Along with it bringing a paparazzi feeding frenzy and tabloid obsession the young Brit never had experienced.
As is usual now Robert continues to remind fans that sequel New Moon will not be the same light-hearted vampire romance as Twilight was:
"The book of New Moon, the majority of it is incredibly depressing. Obviously, Twilight was about finding first love and the difficulties of that, but New Moon is really about loss and reconciliation, but the reconciliation isn't completely full. It's a strange story to have for a market that, I guess, wants to see a love story."
Doubtless these hints will deter the millions of young fans worldwide so New Moon is expected to be just as successful at the box offices if not passing Twilight.
RPattz will have a break not worth even calling a break after New Moon wraps up before he begins filming Eclipse, the third installment in the saga. Eclipse will dare to hit theaters in June 2010—just a mere 7 months after New Moon debuts.
