Found Breaking Dawn Reason to Delay?

Variety.com has an article on whether the delay on the Breaking Dawn movie details is because undecided to be created for financial purpose. Could it be? I think with all the money they will make by Breaking Dawn they will have money spare. Another issue that seems to affect with the decision is the director. Fans seem to demand for director Chris Weitz to continue with the last movie(s). Here is a little piece of the article:

The two-week $481 million worldwide gross of "New Moon" has vaulted Summit Entertainment into the big leagues, but it also has created a high-class challenge for toppers Rob Friedman and Patrick Wachsberger.

They will likely have to cut a few big checks if they decided, as rumored, to split Stephenie Meyer's final "Twilight" novel, "Breaking Dawn," into two pictures. Sources said Summit has set Melissa Rosenberg -- who wrote the first three films -- to finish the series, but Summit has to clear several hurdles before Rosenberg learns how many more scripts she'll write.

One of those hurdles is figuring out whether "New Moon" director Chris Weitz will respond favorably to overtures from the film company and the cast to shoot two more films, back to back.

Summit execs would not comment, but multiple sources said the company wants to go the two-film route, which means reopening negotiations and securing approval from the author. It also means making new deals with a principal cast that is only locked up for four films. If "Breaking Dawn" becomes two pictures, all of the key cast members will get fat raises, and the three principals -- Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner -- could land paydays in the eight-figure range.

  3. THAT IS SO STUPID CAUSE THE BOOK IS NOT DIVIDED INTO TWO BOOKS.AND I DON'T THINK THAT IT IS FAIR THAT THEY HAVE TO PUT THE ACTORS THROUGH THAT. AND A BIG NO FOR CHRIS WEITZ TO DIRECT THE MOVIE. THEY NEED TO TRUST SOMEONE THAT WILL DO A BETTER JOB THEN WHAT HE IS DOING.

  4. Chris Weitz was amazing, Catherine Hardwick was absolutely terrible and Melissa Rosenburg's Twilight script was ridiculous and nothing like the book. Chris Weitz was the only one who has done Stephenie Meyer's work any justice, other than the actors. They keep cutting the movies into a two hour time frame...could you imagine about 750 pages into 120 minutes?? Just look at what happened to Twilight, it was butchered. Even Stephenie, the AUTHOR (remember her?), recommended that it be broken up into two movies...I'm betting on Stephenie to know what's best for her baby.

  5. I agree, if breaking dawn is converted into a film, it has to be divided into 2 parts.

Since Stephenie Meyer has done such an extensive job on the books, they cannot possibly be converted into a single 2 hour film without it being extensively edited.

For a non reader it may perhaps make no difference but the readers may be disappointed to see quarter of what Breaking Dawn has on film.

In the end I guess it is really up to the big wigs out there. I just hope the film does the storyline justice because I honestly believe that the films and the actors have brought in more fans.
