The Rise of Vampire Culture

theOpen Book Society's Farrha Kahn has written a piece on the Rise of Vampire Culture. She writes about how the new popularity of Vampire television shows such as The Vampire diaries and True Blood may be due partly to the runaway success of The Twilight Saga.

She goes on to write about shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel being one of the few successes of the past and how shows such as Moonlight and Blood Ties which both premiered in 2007 did not continue to run after mid 2008. If televised now would these shows be popular in today's vampire inspired pop culture? The answer Kahn writes is yes, they would definitely be popular in today's mainstream entertainment.

So whether you love it or whether you hate it, vampire culture is not going anywhere anytime soon.
