Peter Facinelli Wants 'Breaking Dawn' PG-13

Bella Edward KissYes, folks, he has said it, Peter Facinelli believes that the fourth and final installment of the Twilight Saga should remain PG-13 even though certain fans have been clamoring for an all sexed up movie:

We’ve been waiting for soooo long to see Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart FINALLY make sweet, sweet love in the fourth and final Twilight film, Breaking Dawn, that it didn’t even occur to us that some people (re: parents) might not be so happy at the seductive content.

However, Peter Facinelli—who plays hot vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen—has made us see the error of our ways.

“I have a 12-year-old daughter [Luca Bella, whose mom is Jennie Garth]. She’s a fan and I’d want her not to feel left out or awkward,” Peter, 37, explained to HollywoodLife.com exclusively Jan. 16 at Lionsgate’s pre-Golden Globes party.

“Hopefully it’s a PG-13 type of situation,” he added. “I’m sure the producers and directors know what they want—and especially what they are doing—but I’m sure they don’t want to alienate fans.”

We like how Peter sees both sides here: he doesn’t want to destroy his daughter’s innocence, yet he wants the flick to remain pure for die-hard fans. His primary loyalty is to his family though, after all—family always comes first to this #1 Dad.

What do you think about the Twilight conundrum? Should the producers keep the sex scenes and potentially alienate a large portion of their audience or keep it age-appropriate? Can there be a happy medium?

  1. No matter if the majority of fans want the sex scene in it....it won't happen....one word Stephanie....will see them on their honeymoon in bed, then will get a fade to black and then when the picture comes back, will see Bella with feathers and brusies all over. It will be disappointing, but I guess will have to gi back to our imaginations. There are just too many younger fans that they don't want to alienate.

  2. Twilight isn't just for teens! I'm almost 60 & just fininished the four books for the 3rd time! I vote R

  3. They should make an "adult" version and one that is acceptable for younger viewers... :)

  4. I want the sex scenes , ! :)

  5. There has to be a happy ending it's not just for teens. I am 30 and want to see it in true form. We want to see the passion we have been waiting for! I think there are a lot more adult fans than realized and parents were ok with the kids reading it then well enough said. Besides you see worse on regular tv than what they would do in the movie anyway so just show us already!!!! I am sick of all the wonderful possibilities being thrown out the window! Breaking Dawn needs to be done right! And it needs to be done into 2 movies to do it right otherwise it will compromise what the book is and will disappoint everyone!

  7. I think that to stay true to the book the movie needs to stay PG-13. We all know that there is sex in Breaking Dawn but it stays in PG-13 form as the books don't go into detail. I think that Kristen and Rob have enough chemistry with each other that they can convey what Edward and Bella are feeling physically and keep it PG-13.

  8. I think they should make a movie for adults. Little girls can see it when they grow up in a few years. Maybe at that moment they'll appreciate it too

  9. They will be able to give us some of the passion, without violating ratings. Our technology has come so far, it can be created to give everyone something, and stick to PG-13. I believe in our movie making folks, and I believe it is possible.

  10. I think the final film should be PG-13. The books were written with young adults/teens in mind and the movies are made with them in mind. The last film should not cross that line and exclude them, they, who are the ones that are the biggest fans and the ones who spend the money for merchandise, conventions and movie tickets. There can be a higher rated version for the older audience to purchase on DVD, but first and foremost the original audience should be considered.

  11. i say happy medium- pg13 in the movies, and then an uncut version to buy on dvd- it makes perfect since, everybody gets what they want!

  12. If its pg13 in the sex scenes thats totally fine because we didn't get anything in the book anyway. HOWEVER it should be R for the birthing scene. There is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much blood in the book that they need to make that a nightmarish scene of gore. And if they cant do it in theaters they need to do it with an incredibly extended directors cut

  13. They should of course make it pg 13 for the cinema release but i would expect and hope that they would have the r rated scene in the dvd! that way we all get what we want....

  14. If I remember correctly, Twilight was written for girls 14 and up, not 12 year olds, not the little girls that just like the movies and haven't read the books. I vote R for sex scene, because I may agree with Peter on the fact that they shouldn't alienate the younger crowd, but Twilight wasn't meant for girls under 14. I remember back in '05 when I first read Twilight, that wasn't in the middle school libraries, and that wasn't in the children's section of the public library, it was in the young adult section, so I vote R.

The uncut DVD version is also a very good idea.

  15. I don't think it should be pg-13 maybe a 15 if it has to be lower and then 2 versions when the DVD is released for those who want the R rating! The film will definately be better with some of the sex scene and the blood in the birth scene!! It will definately need to be 2 films as there is too much information to include in one film! we all want to see it longer anyway so might as well.

  16. As long as we get to see some showing off of abilities, that's all I can ask. I don't have to see nudity or racy sex scenes to enjoy the movie. But I don't want them to just leave the sex scenes out entirely. And, "SPOILER ALERT FOR MOVIE GO-ERS WHO HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK":The only sex scenes in the movie would be between Edward and Bella after they become a married couple.

  17. I agree and disagree. You have to realize that many of the teens now regardless what we as parents want to believe are in fact having sex. They are not stupid and if you listen to your children you will find that they know a heck of a lot more than we did at their age. However, I do see the need to keep it pure and clean for their eyes and those that are true Stephanie Meyer/Twilight fans will not turn their backs on it just because the sex scenes are absent. I can see both the ups and downs of keeping it PG-13. Sometimes less is actually more.

  18. I think the director should be faithfull to the book. Most of the fans read it, so what´s the point of being preoccupied with the age of the fans?

  19. I think the the screen writer, Melissa Rosenberg, should stay very true to the book. I can not tell you how crucial it is to have these sex seens in the movie. Mainly because this is where Edward and Bella make a huge connection and realize that they are soon-to-be parents. Also it explains why Bella has so little time being pregnant before she give's birth. The birthing process also explains how Edward turned Bella, and why Jacob is soo attached to Renesmee and why he can't stay away from her. This also shows the strong connection between Edward, Bella, and Renesmee.I would not like to see my favorite Twilight book transition onto the big screen the wrong way, I'd love to see it the way it was meant to be.

  20. PG-13 deffinately! I'm only 13, and I really don'th think my mom would let me watch Breaking Dawn if it was rated R. I also really don't want to see a a full-on sex scene :p
Besides Stephanie doesn't really go into detail in the book...why should the movie be that way?

  21. i think that they HAVE to do what they wants,
if they wanna make some love , they have to do it!

  22. In the book it doesnt go into detail at all be we all know what goes on. it can be done without taking it to a place where i think it should be rated any higher, i mean the book doesnt describe Edward gyrating and Bella moaning lol so why would they even add those things to the film? why not just do it how it is in the book? thats the story we love! The way stephanie has wrote it is not too much but just enough that you dont even see it as anything really. i think the kiss scene in twilight was at about the same level this will be at if it's left unchanged, we are fully used to seeing them together in a bed anyway! I'd say the more worries should've come for eclipse with how they are going to show the fighting, ripping apart and burning of bodies, but nothing even came up! and also the birth in breaking dawn, thats gunna be in itself fair more disturbing.

  23. OK seriously, the kids in Harry Potter seem to get more action than Bella and Edward.

  24. The book is quite PG-13 where the sex is concerned. We don't get the "sex scene" we get the omgwhatamIdoing/whatamiwearing scene in the bathroom before Bella goes out to meet Edward on the beach.. aand then we come to her waking up covered in feathers and Edward points out her bruises. The others are post-vampire!bella, makeout scenes (in the forest), and when Bella is given the cottage.. but even then, we get something about ripping clothes off and them being knocked to the floor where it cuts without details. This can be shown without nudity in a PG-13 movie. Where I think it might be tone a little is with the blood/gore that surrounds the birth. Its the most graphic thing about the book. Bella's broken bones, spine, throwing up a fountain of blood, etc.. then the biting out of the baby and him lifting up the bloody baby.. YUCKOMG. I'm 29, and I thought that were pretty gross. In movie form, this isn't gonna look like that. There might be some blood, but I don't forsee that much of it. A PG-13 rating would be fitting.

  25. I don't really think that the sex scenes will make the movie R. I think the producers will probably just do like "The Notebook" which, c'mon guys, is a very steamy movie even though it's like rated PG13. I mean in the books the author didn't go into full detail either sooo.... that's my opinion. As for the birth scene, maybe they will either pump up the gore and make it R or maybe they will tone it down. My guess is that the movie will most likely be PG13. I may not like it, and other fans may not like it.. but that is what might happen. [my opinion, keep the sex scenes like they are in the book but try to make the birth scene look real and not-so-cheesey]

  26. I think there should be a dvd with the rated r scenes on it. I cant imagine just not getting to see the honeymoon scene or the birthing scene in full force. i'm tired of having to imagine it, I want to see it. The pg-13 can be the one released in theatres that way nobody gets alienated.

  27. Perhaps they could do two versions because its a shame to miss some of these scenes out. And im not a teenager im 43.

  28. I agree with Peter Facinelli and to everyone who voted PG-13 for Breaking Dawn the movie..I finished all of the books and I'm already 18 but I don't want to see the love scenes be in full details including nudity because in the book Stephenie Meyer did a great job for doing those love scenes very decent. It's still hot and romantic for me while reading it. And it will be awesome to see that in the movie..It's not gonna be true to the book if they didn't do it like Stephenie did in the book. Right?

    ReplyDelete
  29. PG-13 is appropriate. the fact is the birth scene... dum dum dum. its gonna be gore and lotsaaa blood! just like it was described...
    ps. 17yr opinion.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Really, do you think that Rob and Kristen would even do that? I think not. I think Stephenie wouldn't want it that way.

The way I see it, They're gonna be kissing in bed & then fade to dark and then Bella's gonna wake up all covered in feathers.

And really, this book is for TEENAGERS. Okay? So all of you over-obsessed 30 year old moms can just get that picture out of your dirty, perverted little heads. Deal with it.

The majority of the Twilight fans are TEENAGERS.

And it needs to be 2 parts. Like Harry Potter 7.

  31. pg 13 some parents aren't going let their kids see it if it is rated r keep the birth scene except not with all blood like minimum

so please make it pg 13

    ReplyDelete
  32. To the people who are saying the book is for teenagers...you are wrong! Steph said it herself that she wrote the book for HER! And just because many of the fans are over 30 doesn't mean we are dirty or perverted. I think you will understand some day, but it will have to wait until you are adults.

I agree that it will most likely be like the book and there will be the fade to black.

I also wish that everyone would just get over the age thing. It doesn't matter how old you are-we all love the story and the characters and the world that Stephenie created...stop hating on people just because they are older/younger than you are. We are ALL fans of Stephenie, the books and/or the movies and the characters and/or the cast, regardless of how old we are!
