Twilight Gets Thanks From Paul Wesley

Let's face it...Stefan isn't our Edward but he is an exceptional substitute while we are in between films. Vampire Diaries has become one of the most successful shows on television. So who do we thank for that...Twilight of course! Mr. Pattinson to be specific.

Recently Paul Wesley (Stefan of Vampire Diaries) told Vanity Fair in an interview that he hasn't really gotten into the series but he has to give thanks where its due. He believes that if Twilight had not of become such a cultural phenomenon that Vampire Diaries may have never happened.

"No, I have only seen a few scenes. But I have to thank Twilight because it gave me a job. Without Robert Pattinson and his films, I do not think that the Vampire Diaries would have been produced”

I love how Summit broke the barrier in the vampire world and opened up the flood gates for other shows/movies. Besides Twilight, True Blood and Vampire Diaries are my two biggest obsessions. Although all three have their similarities (love triangles, "vegetarian" vamps, etc.), they are all very different in their own way. It would be safe to say that Twilight paved the way and brought the sexy out, making vampires much much more desirable. But of course none of them can be as yummy as our dear sweet Edward.

What is your favorite non-Twilight vampire series? Does anyone top Edward for you? What do you guys think about vampires being the new "fashion?"
